GP3 OFFICIAL TESTS AT THE HUNGARORING
The ten GP3 Series teams met up for two official test days on 1st/2nd June 2011 at the Hungaroring near Budapest. Jenzer Motorsport were present with Nico Müller (CH), Maxim Zimin (RUS) and Vittorio Ghirelli (I).
The weather was hot with thunderstorms threatening throughout and the fluid but sinuous circuit proved very demanding for the 30 drivers. It didn’t stop Nico from claiming a top three position in every session bar one. Vittorio and Maxim were both on their fastest laps when yellow flags were waved and they had to slow down. As a result Vittorio’s best time put him 21st and Maxim was 25th. However, because of the variety of tyre tactics employed by the teams during test days it’s hard to really compare lap times in any meaningful way.
The next official GP3 Series test days will be on 16th/17th June at the Circuito Ricardo Tormo just outside Valencia (E). The next race of the season will be as a support act for the Formula 1 Grand Prix on 25th/26th June 2011 on the exciting Valencia (E) street circuit.
