OFFICIAL GP3 TESTS IN JEREZ (E)

GP3-Series

The ten GP3 teams met up for the final time in 2011 at Jerez de la Frontera (E), for two days of testing on 1st and 2nd December. This time out Jenzer Motorsport fielded Patric Niederhauser (CH), Robert Visoiu (ROM) and Michael Heche (CH).

The first day saw 27 runners, of whom eight had competed this season. The sun shone and with the weather on their side the lap times were very close almost from the start. On the demanding 4.4k circuit Robert managed 6th place and was a mere 0.267 seconds off the fastest lap time of the session while Michael was 11th, only 0.474 seconds adrift, while Patric ended up 15th despite being within 0.676 seconds of the fastest driver. Lap times were a little slower in the afternoon as the temperature rose.

The second day saw 26 drivers take part, with nine of them returnees from the 2011 season. Again the lap times were incredibly close, and by lunch time our drivers were listed as 15th, 16th and 17th having not managed to get the best out of their new tyres. The afternoon looked different again, and Robert was in an excellent 3rd place by the end of the session, with Patric close behind him in 4th and Michael in 6th. However because the morning lap times were faster, they were listed in the positions reached in the morning on the daily summary. It’s fair to say that our rookies contributed to a very good team performance to end the 2011 test days, no matter what the timesheets show.
