GP3 OFFICIAL TESTS AT BARCELONA

For one last time before the first race of the season, the ten GP3 Series teams met for three official test days from 12^th through 14^th April at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona (E). The weather was not as warm as might be expected and it was quite cloudy a lot of the time. Jenzer Motorsport was running with Nico Müller (CH), Maxim Zimin (RUS) and Vittorio Ghirelli (I).

30 drivers went out on the interesting circuit and gave it their best shot. Antonio Felix da Costa, Alexander Sims, Valtteri Bottas, Nigel Melker, Adrian Quaife-Hobbs, Lewis Williamson, Andrea Caldarelli, Ryo Haryanto, Mitch Evans and Nico Müller were the drivers who occupied the top three positions at various stages over the three days and 27 race cars out of the 30 were within one second of the fastest lap time. This demonstrates how extraordinarily close and competive this year’s field is.

Nico’s best place overall was 2^nd, Maxim was 9^th and Vittorio managed 15^th. Now we are looking forward to the first race of the season with great anticipation. The first race of the new season will be in three weeks time and will support the Formula 1 Grand Prix on 7^th/8^th May 2011 in Istanbul (TK).
