FWS F4 begins in the Rain in Jerez

The FWS F4 Spanish Winter Series was very well received this year, and a total of 38 drivers registered.
The young drivers want to prepare as well as possible for the new season. We are racing in four events on four different major circuits in Spain, with three sprint races per event, from February to March in order to gain as much experience as possible
The first race weekend took place on the characterful track in Jerez, southern Spain. The weather was quite changeable, with strong winds and lots of rain, cool temperatures, and a few dry periods.

In this championship there are several free practice sessions on Thursday and Friday, then two qualifying sessions of 20 minutes each, and a total of three races of 30 minutes + 1 lap each.
The starting grid for the first race will be created in the order of the fastest qualifying time from Q1. The starting grid for the second race will be based on the 2nd fastest time per driver from Q1. The excitement was high as the 38 vehicles set off for the first qualifying of the 2024 FWS F4 Spanish Winter Series. For Adam, Arthur and Enea it was their very first qualifying in a formula car. But actually everyone was a bit nervous with such a big field!

Race One (30 Min + 1 lap)

Saturday, 10/02/24, 14.35, Weather: Cloudy, 17°C

Most of our drivers got off to a good start. Adam managed to gain several positions on the first lap. He was now in 20th place and gradually managed to move up to 18th place. Arthur also had a very successful opening lap and moved up to 20th place. In the next battle he then fell back two places, but by the end of the race he had regained 20th place again. Soon after the start, Edouard had an off track moment and lost several positions. He fought his way back up from 36th place to 28th place with good lap times. Enea didn't get off to a good start and was immediately overtaken by several drivers. While catching up, he collided with another vehicle and damaged his front wing, which he had immediately replaced in the pit lane. He was able to join the race again although with a large gap and ultimately reached the finish line in 33rd place.

FWS F4 Spanish Winter Series

Race Two (30 Min + 1 lap)

Sunday, 11/02/24, 10.50, Weather: Rain, 13°C

Shortly before the start, the gray clouds that hung over the track in the morning began to empty themselves. By the time the cars were on the starting grid, it had already stopped raining. Nevertheless, there was no question that everyone chose rain tires. After three formation laps the race started. After three laps of racing in very slippery conditions, the safety car had to take over the field because a vehicle was stuck in the gravel trap. Enea put in a great starting lap and moved up to 14th place. Arthur improved to 19th place, but Adam, who went off track, fell back to 33rd. Edouard was 26 at the time. At the time of the restart the rain started again and the conditions became more difficult. Despite this, Enea improved to 13th place, then had a hairy moment and dropped to 15th place. Arthur drove very well and was now in 19th place, Edouard was 25th and Adam was already right behind him in 26th place. The safety car had to be deployed a second time because another vehicle was stranded. At the restart there was still time for two final laps in which various drivers struggled to keep their vehicle on the track. Unfortunately, Adam, who had previously overtaken Edouard, now also spun, and fell back behind him again. Enea reached the finish in a very good 14th place. Arthur was right behind him in 15th place at the end. Edouard came home in 24th with Adam right behind him in 25th.

Race Three (30 Min + 1 lap)

Sunday, 11/02/24, 16.00, Weather: Wet, 16°C

It rained all afternoon and only somewhat stopped shortly before the start of the third race of the weekend. The race director decided to give the start rolling behind the safety car after two laps. This was a good idea because there was a lot of water on the track. It was very difficult for the drivers to cope with the spray on the very wet track. Adam did very well, but while batteling for positions he went off the track and fell back to 17th place. Over the course of the race he managed to move back up to 15th place. Enea was also doing very well and had just moved up to 23rd place when he slipped and spun on the water. He rejoined the race in 31st place and drove in this position until the end. Arthur drove steadily at first, then worked his way up from 28th to 24th. Edouard was doing well, but also had a spin and with that saw the finishing line in 33rd place. All of our young drivers had to deal with very different conditions on this first race weekend and learned a lot in the process. In the end, everyone brought their racing machines home safely.

Race Three Results
1st Juan Cota (E) Drivex 32:10.490
