Zagazeta shows good race pace at the Red Bull Ring

The 2024 FIA F3 circus met up for the sixth event of the season as they ran as part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Austria on the demanding circuit of the RedBull Ring. Weather conditions were good during the event it was again very clear just how close the competition is within this highly competitive field.

Qualifying

Friday, 28/06/24, 14.00 – 14.30, Weather: Sunny, 24°C

The sixth race event of the season began on Friday morning with free practice. It started in pleasantly warm temperatures. Charlie made good use of his opportunity and took first place in the session with the soft tire compound. Matias and Max initially stayed on the hard tire compound and reached 23^rd and 26^th place.
The qualifying session followed in the afternoon. Our drivers improved continuously. But on the last attempt with new tires they got pretty stuck in traffic. Max managed to take 18^th place and Matias reached 23rd place. But Charlie was unable to improve his lap time and ended up in 26^th place.

Race One (Sprint-Race, 40 Minutes)

Saturday, 29/06/24, 09.30, Weather: Sunny, 22°C

The start of the first race of the weekend went well. In beautiful sunshine, a large crowd of spectators lined the track and the grandstands were well occupied. Max and Matias easily avoided an accident. Charlie was squeezed between two vehicles and later had no choice but to take the exit next to the track to avoid a collision. Some vehicles had to be removed and the safety car took over the field. Max had already moved up to 15^th place, Matias was 19^th and Charlie was in 26^th place. As the race progressed, our drivers showed good speed and Max had moved up to 14^th place. Matias was involved in several position changes, back and forth, until he managed to hold on to 19^th place. Charlie managed to gain some positions and was now in 22^nd place. Shortly before the end of the race there was another accident and the safety car had to be deployed again. After that there was one lap left until the end of the race. But in this one lap, many tried to improve their positions. Max was unfortunately pushed from behind and pushed off the track. As a result he and fell back to 18^th place. Matias had already got past and finished in 17^th place. Charlie crossed the finish line in 20^th place.

Race Two (Feature Race, 45 Minutes)

Sunday, 30/06/24, 08.30, Weather: Sunny, 20°C

On Sunday morning, the race fans set off early and already lined the race track. Max got off to a good start and immediately improved his position. Matias didn't have a good start and lost a few positions. Charlie came together with Dufek and fell back. An exciting race with many overtaking maneuvers began. Max was moving between positions 17 - 19 and managed to bring home 17^th place in the end. Matias, after getting going, made his way from 29^th place up to 14^th place. He managed several nice overtaking maneuvers and drove very good lap times. During the race, Charlie had worked his way back up from 28^th place to 20^th place when he was pushed from behind and had to go into the pits to change his right rear tire because of a puncture. Charlie then filed into the field again and finished the race in 27^th place.

We are looking forward to the next race event which will alrady take place on the weekend of 7^th July 2024 at Silverstone in Great Britain.
